Human to Demon
typography/blender/horror
This is a 3D typography sculpture (letter r). The project emphasizes multi-personality disorder (DID), a typical mental illness in the psychological horror genre. Multi-personality disorder or dissociative identity disorder (DID) is when there is more than one character or alter, exists in a body. Those alters have entirely dependent thoughts and personalities. The body is controlled by only one alter, and the alters might take turns to own the body.
In my typography sculpture, a person has two heads, symbolizing two alters. The dark horror element is the demon with an evil personality and doing crimes. On the other hand, the human side has a completely separate vibe, a funny and cute cartoon character. This creates a huge gap between the two alters, making the design more horrific. This is a typographic sculpture shaping a lowercase serif r. One of the rationales I choose to make this letter is that it stands for “real”. The human his own already is a letter i for “ideal”, meaning the expectation, while with the demon, the letter i turns to the letter r which is “real”, and means reality.
